USR’s first workshop event aims to inspire academic success and career aspirations within the Somali Gabooye community. Participants will explore the importance of education and the diverse opportunities available to them. The workshop will address historical taboos within the Somali community, such as the stigma against professions like blacksmithing, barbering, and tailoring during their forefather’s eras. By understanding this history, young attendees will learn to overcome societal opinions and pursue their passions without fear of discrimination, empowering them to make informed career decisions and achieve their full potential.
